National Day of Action against Bullying & Violence - Friday 15th March 2019
Friday 15th March 2019 is the National Day of Action against Bullying & Violence
Parents and other carers have a key role in preventing and responding to bullying. If your child talks to you about bulling:
Listen calmly and reassure to get the full story and talk about what bullying in and what it is not
'Bullying' is sometimes used for lots of situations that are not actually bullying. Although these other behaviours may be serious, they may require a different response.
Make sure they know what bullying is, including online bullying, and how they can respond
Ask your child what they want to do about it and how you can help. Practice some strategies at home with your child to help prepare them for school situations.
Contact the school
If bullying has occurred and the school needs to be involved, get in touch! Talk about how you and the school can work together to support your child, whether your child was bullied, bullied others, or witnessed bullying.
Recognise the warning signs of bullying
Be aware that many times children and young people won't ask for help, so it is important to know what to look for.
Visit www.bullyingnoway.gov.au to find more information and lots of ideas and resources and strategies.

New food allergy resource website for teens!
Teens and young people living with severe food allergies are being encouraged to
start a conversation with their peers via a new website that could potentially save
their lives.
The website was launched today and it operates just like an app, allowing young people to develop their own avatar and use it to talk to their friends or others with severe allergies about their experiences.
There's also practical information for young people on how they can manage severe allergies.
The website is: www.250k.org.au.
